Denis's application for the removal of conditional status on his residence has been approved!!! Yay! Thanks to everyone who wrote affidavits. Of course he doesn't have his new green card just yet. He has to take 3 photos to a place in VA and then wait six months for the card to arrive. And he can't leave the US until he gets the card unless he gets something amended to his visa, so he better do that before our trip in July.

Having had even just a taste of living in another country, we're definitely sympathetic to what Denis has to deal with - it's bad enough over here, there are just so many little barriers to doing everything, but I know that the U.S. is even worse.

As annoying as it is sometimes, I'm glad I'm getting the chance to live as a foreigner for a while. I know I'm still living a very privileged life, but I think it helps me appreciate a little bit what other people have to go through.
