OMG you guys Wintergrasp is finally alliance! It is almost never alliance on my server. I needed to talk to an elder and now I am one dungeon away from getting my violet proto-drake! I would have been so sad if after a year's worth of holiday quests I didn't get the mount because of stupid PvP. :( But some nice people got up (stayed up?) and I could talk to the guy. (Even if I did have to get D. out of bed to show me where the teleport is.)

Now off too see [personal profile] ellen_fremedon and then to the curling olympic open house!

I was going to add this onto the list, but thought it might merit it's own post. After several years (2? 3? 4? I have no idea) Airis (the Noble, I finally finished a group of holiday quests) my dwarf hunter finally dinged 80!

oh but clearly playing too much WoW as a couple nights ago I had a dream that started out as scary zombies but ended up with all my friends and family (including extended family) LARPing WoW.

Complete with:
-me thinking we were playing Alliance when everyone else was already over at the Horde side
-the cat herding that occurs when you have a group of 30 people who all want to do different things (think about taking your extended family complete with small children to the DC mall and trying to figure out who wants to go in what museum and where are the bathrooms and do we have snacks, etc. Now insert contexts of quests and raids)
-my mother sitting on a bench with my father bickering about whether we're going to attack the people by running into the valley or up the mountain while I'm running around trying to find D.

(Note: D. found this dream hilarious and told me to post it.)

I'm playing WoW like I don't have a dissertation to work on (level 76 ftw). I'm really enjoying the Northrend quests. I flew on a dragon and fought other dragons which was nifty (dead dragons dropping from the air, sad, yet awesome).

Just now I was this saw-machine type creature and I had go to around cutting down trees and killing witches and harpies with my saw blades. This produced the following train of thought:
[after receiving the quest]
"This is disturbing."
[after starting the quest]
"This is f'in awesome!"
"This must be how the patriarchy feels all the time."
"Maybe it's okay to take a break from the graduate school work."

Finally made it over to Northrend in WoW. Liking the quests so far, there's one where you have to go around are free baby mammoths from big traps. Once you free them they trumpet at you in joy and then run off to join the other mammoths. OMG so cute! (I'm told I will also get to free baby murlocs and they are also very cute). Yay for the cute quests!

etaThen you get to find the abandoned baby mammoth an adoptive father, then ride a big scary mammoth and trample some dude to death. awesome.
