Dinner Monday night went well. The lasagna was not crunchy, it was quite good (spinach and sausage lansagna, mmmm) and Denis's spinach pie and dessert were fabulous! The only downer was that their 3-year old started throwing up that afternoon so Rob stayed home with her and just Stefanie came. Regardless we had a good time and it was fun to entertain. We still haven't quite put the apartment back together yet (had to take the legs off the kitchen table to move it to the office and approximate a dining room) but we can do that this weekend.

We are buying a new computer for Denis to work on now that he is leaving Best Buy and just working 2 jobs instead of 3, and will be done at 8pm and have some free time. I am stressing about where we will get the money (he's building it himself?), but it will be good for him to have projects as well as hopefully help with the job prospects. Just not my financial priority.

Also we started the South Beach Diet Online thing today. I had V8 for breakfast which was somewhat unpleasant (along with eggs and canadian bacon which were fine). I missed my oatmeal, but I'm not hungry and the protein thing is only for 2 weeks and then the oatmeal will return. I am very resistent to even the idea of dieting, but I'm not feeling very motivated to exercise right now and the idea of even loosing 5 pounds (which I could easily adapt my habits to keep off) is motivating. You're supposed to loose 8-13 pounds the first two weeks during Phase 1 (the restrictive phase), but we'll see. Phases 2 and 3 are fairly close to how I eat anyway (or at least how I know I should eat, less cookies, more fish.) It's good to do it with Denis so we can support each other and of course I want to support him in any efforts he makes to improve his health. I think he is more psyched about the increased meat consumption than I am, although I like all the veggies, ultimately he will probably loose more weight, in part because he has more to loose. We'll see, I'm pretty pessimistic about me following it/it working for me it right now, but have brigher hopes for Denis.

Mmmm. Sounds yummy!

And I hope that the diet works out for you guys. Hopefully having both of you go on it will make it significantly more manageable!

Although I certainly don't eat as unhealthily as I could, I still don't have much willpower in terms of regulating my diet in any way. So I'm always impressed by folks who can make changes of any sort and stick to them!

I have my annual physical coming up next week, so I guess I'll find out whether my starting-to-exercise-but-not-changing-my-diet-at-all approach has worked over the past year. I definitely haven't lost much weight, but I do feel healthier and I can run faster/further and lift more weight than I could a year ago. I'm curious to see whether I made any improvements on cholesterol level and blood pressure and such.
