The 101 students have their first exam tonight and I get to proctor, so exciting. Guess they don't take the honor code as seriously here as they did at Dartmouth, I don't remember having proctored exams, but then I never had TAs either. Then I get to grade the exams, at least they should be more interesting then grading quizzes (which I did a billon of today since they needed to be returned before the exam tonight.) I also met with a student to answer some questions, that was nice, I much prefer working with people one-on-one.

My Fulbright interview (with the Williams people) is scheduled for tomorrow morning, it should be fine, it's only 20-30 minutes and I doubt they found someone who has a really specific knowledge of Croatia. I know the names of the president and prime minister (well I can never remember the prime minister's first name, but it starts with an "i" and ends in an "a" wierd for a male name to end in an "a"). It's mostly to make sure I'm a sane and reasonable individual who is going to represent the school/country appropriately. This means I have one more shot this weekend to rewrite my essays before submitting it to the start department. I'm not going to rewrite unless I get some good feedback, hopefully that will be provided tomorrow.

I emailed the guy at Chicago to meet to talk about the program. He emailed back, said great, said to send dates. I did, specifying that I'd like to fly to Chicago this past weekend since it was fall break. A month passed and he never got back to me, so I didn't go. Then I found out he's going to be a Wellesley for a conference this weekend, so I emailed asking if we can we meet on Saturday. He wrote back (yay) saying the only piece of free time he has is Friday morning (Wellesley is a three-hour drive from me), and I have to check with the show's curator to set up an appointment. So now I'm waiting to see if the curator emails me back tomorrow so I can get up at 5am Friday, miss a class in which I'm supposed to present an abstract of my paper topic for the term, and drive to Wellesley to meet with this guy. At least it's cheaper than flying to Chicago. (And I have no idea how Denis is going to get to work Friday.) The guy from Chicago is supposed to be really nice and I know it's stressful when a show is coming together, I don't think he's a jerk, but he is making my life a bit stressful.

And my mom has decided that we're going to spend Thanksgiving in Ohio (9 hours away) instead of Vermont (2 hours away), effectively taking away 5 days of prime paper-writing time at the end of the semester, but I need to see my grandparents and Denis hasn't seen that side of the family since before the wedding. It'll be nice, but stressful, but what family meeting isn't some combination of the two?

okay, must find food before exam.

Thanks. I'm sorry things have been frustrating, the process itself is difficult and trying enough without having other people make it worse.
