Interesting post over on Shapely Prose about the racism black women encounter on online dating sites. As a white woman who isn't currently dating I haven't given a lot of thought to my privilege in this area.
Like many of the woman I know, my internal dialogue about my body and desirability can be fairly negative, although I recognize that I had a lot of privilege in this area (able-bodied, cisgendered, body shape, body size (I just deleted a bunch of asides about not being thin, but really I can find my size in most clothing stores, I have a lot of privilege in this area), boobs, etc.)
But I hadn't really thought about being white as such a large part of that privilege. Some links, thought-provoking, and entertaining. They're all from the original post and comments, I'm reposting in case you don't want to wade through comments.

What if a black woman posted her dating profile twice, once with her actual picture and description, and again as a white woman? The results in general aren't surprising, but the specifics are. I especially found the education level and message wordcount breakdowns interesting. Oh, and then she tells the guys interested in the smart, humorous, geeky white girl that she's black.
