The last two IFW classes I've continued to work on my swing, doing knee-hang catches working the apron. Taking off unassisted is no problem :) Last Wednesday I seemed to finally have the swing timing down.
So during class tonight I tried a back-end trick for the first time! I worked on back end straddle whip. I didn't get it, but I got close (I think I had 4 tries?). I worked on it instead of catching and on the last one I got one leg up, but I couldn't stick it. I'm cutting my sweep back short so I'm not going in position at the right time (when I'm weightless at the end of the swing). Made progress from my first try where I didn't even get into position and hit my foot on the board. It's exciting (and a little scary) to try something new, but it really highlights the weaknesses in my swing. It's been great to get some physical feedback along with what the instructors say.
