It was kind of a rough week getting back into classes after two weeks off (and realizing I have a ton of work to do for papers). Just yesterday I started gathering sources for my long-neglected museum's paper on the Wadsworth Atheneum and the Phoenix Art Museum (what do I know about Phoenix?).

Even with significantly less sleep and flaking out for two days I did manage to complete my week two exercise requirements. Today I hope to start out week 3 with a short run. I went on Thursday and it was nice, I have to run on the rare days it's not raining or freezing cold. I'm not loosing any weight, but then I'm not dieting and I'm focusing now on getting into the exercise habit. I'm not gaining weight so that's good.

Denis is working today, he had a 7am meeting at Best Buy and then picked up an extra shift for the afternoon. He also took a Sunday shift (time and a half) so he won't have any days off this week. He's going to be exhausted. (This means he's working M-F 9am-10pm as well as most of Sat. and Sun.). I know we desperately need the money but this is extreme. His back's been bothering him and I miss my husband. We were invited to dinner at my boss's house Sunday night but she had to cancel because she just realized her husband will be on call (he's a doctor), so much for our plans to go out like a normal couple.

Ok, I need to run, shower, edit my sister's paper on engineering in cold regions (just for style, not content), go to the bank, mail some biils, and cook some food. Denis will be starved when he comes home and in no mood to cook. Oh yeah, and then schoolwork. Maybe I should have gotten up earlier this morning, but it feels so good to sleep in. I have no insomnia problems, I can sleep anytime.

It's not about weight anyway, it's about percentage of muscle. Since you're exercising, it means your body's converting fat into firm, healthy flesh. Yay flesh! So even if you gain weight, you're probably looking better and feeling better, and that's what counts. :-) I need to start running now that it's warmer. MUST... GET... IN... EXERCISE... habit!

Yup, gotta agree with Bay here. Obviously it's neat to say you lost a couple pounds, but a better goal to keep in mind might be "Oh, I used to die doing this tape and now it's easy! I have enough energy to do it twice in a row!" I think one of the reasons I was able to stick with my exercise routine for so long is that I made the goal of all that exercising to be the exercising itself, not to lose weight. Because if you want to lose weight, exercising is a very slow way to go about it and you may get discouraged.

I actually haven't lost any weight, despite having been exercising for almost a year and a half now, but I look and feel quite a bit healthier. I'm a lot stronger too. Despite the fact that when I visit Asia everyone thinks I'm fat, I'd much rather stay this weight and be healthy than lose ten pounds and be unhealthy. ;-)
