I had my second trapeze lesson today!
The weather was again gorgeous blue sky with a bit of breeze. The class wasn't full and was mostly kids. There was one woman roughly my age who was also taking her second class. We had a nice time chatting with each other and with one of the moms.
On my first climb up to the platform I was again scared and not really pleased with myself. I felt a lot of feat/discomfort and kept thinking "why am I doing this again?". But then I jumped and it was awesome!!!
Things accomplished:
-went again even though part of me was dreading it a little (another part of me was super, crazy excited to go so I decided to listen to that part)
-jumped on the call the entire day except for once (and even then I jumped on the second call)
-became much more comfortable leaning into the belt (aka standing with my weight shifted off the platform)
-remembered how to do a kneehang
-when my hands started to get torn up I got tape so they are considerably better than last time
-got the backflip dismount! on the first try! (and then all the time afterwards except for once) it's very flippy!
-made the kneehang my bitch mastered the timing of the kneehang (this meant I qualified for catching)
-made both of my catches!!!! It is so satisfying to make a catch. And I solidly made them, my timing, position, etc. were right on target. I was so excited!!!! (I didn't even mind driving home during rush hour.)
By the end of the class my fear:fun ratio had shifted enough that I was actually looking forward to climbing up the ladder. I think by class #3 I will be throughly out of the terrified zone and into the thrill zone (and least I'm hoping.)
Because I caught my catches next class they said I will warm up with the knee hang and then learn something new!!! Maybe I will also remember to bring the camera and get some pictures/video.
Seriously, you know you want to try it.
