I bought this dress for my sister's wedding (and for several other events this spring and summer). I really like the dress and I have a pair of tan sandals that look fine with it.

The thing is I've been wanting these blue/white fluevog shoes for ages and so I thought I might get them because they might coordinate with the dress (so I would have a chance to wear them).

But in searching for those shoes on sale (unsucessfully) I found the same shoes only in purple/black! (You have to change the color once you click on the link.)

I can't afford both pairs so I'm not sure what to do:

blue shoes:
pros
-might match with dress so I'll have places to wear them
-love the patent leather (shiny!)
-seems more classic (like with red shoes I could wear the blue shoes with a neutral outfit)
-white stitching seems more spring/summer appropriate

cons
-might not match coordinate with with dress so wearability might not be a factor at all (according to [livejournal.com profile] sanj shoes should coordinate not match)
-not on sale anywhere

purple shoes:
pros
-they're purple, I love purple and they're a shade I love
-the black stitching seems a little more subdued and like I could wear them year round more easily
-I think I have more outfits that might work? I have a lot of black skirts/pants and purple or purple-friendly tops although it's hard to tell until I see them in person
-they're not on the official website so may not be around forever?

cons
-can I really wear purple shoes? I've never had a pair and I'm not sure if they will work
-I don't have any specific place to wear them (they certainly won't work with the blue dress)

PURPLE PURPLE PURPLE

I absolutely do not agree that you can't wear the purple shoes with the blue dress. In fact, they may coordinate better than the blue ones, because the blue risks looking off-ish if the blues don't match quite closely -- and in any event, the skirt is short enough that you have a lot more flexibility w/r/t shoes than you would with a long dress.

signed,
I wore (non-shiny) purple shoes with a red dress, and it worked fabulously
