I bought this dress for my sister's wedding (and for several other events this spring and summer). I really like the dress and I have a pair of tan sandals that look fine with it.
The thing is I've been wanting these blue/white fluevog shoes for ages and so I thought I might get them because they might coordinate with the dress (so I would have a chance to wear them).
But in searching for those shoes on sale (unsucessfully) I found the same shoes only in purple/black! (You have to change the color once you click on the link.)
I can't afford both pairs so I'm not sure what to do:
blue shoes:
pros
-might match with dress so I'll have places to wear them
-love the patent leather (shiny!)
-seems more classic (like with red shoes I could wear the blue shoes with a neutral outfit)
-white stitching seems more spring/summer appropriate
cons
-might notmatch coordinate with with dress so wearability might not be a factor at all (according to
sanj shoes should coordinate not match)
-not on sale anywhere
purple shoes:
pros
-they're purple, I love purple and they're a shade I love
-the black stitching seems a little more subdued and like I could wear them year round more easily
-I think I have more outfits that might work? I have a lot of black skirts/pants and purple or purple-friendly tops although it's hard to tell until I see them in person
-they're not on the official website so may not be around forever?
cons
-can I really wear purple shoes? I've never had a pair and I'm not sure if they will work
-I don't have any specific place to wear them (they certainly won't work with the blue dress)

signed,
I wore (non-shiny) purple shoes with a red dress, and it worked fabulously

Very cute shoes!

I agree with Fox, the blue might be just off enough that the thought was that you were going for matching and missed. Plus, I'm not a fan of the tri-color-ness of the blue, whereas I think the purples are awesome.
Then again I'm biased as I love purple as well. Plus, "SALE!" is always a valid reasoning for me ;-)

Do you have any jewelry with black in it? Some faux jet beads might match the vintage-ness of the shoes, and tie the whole color scheme together.

I may be the wrong person to help you with this decision but I see no problem -- in my book they'd be totally cute!

But it sounds like you like the purple shoes more, and if you like purple, I'm sure you'll find reasons to wear them! Colorful shoes are wonderful. And purple shoes would go with any purple themed outfit, as well as a bunch of other colors. Also a great way to spice up an otherwise colorless outfit (say, black, white, brown, grey...). I bet they'd even look great with a pair of nice jeans.
I bought a pair of blue shoes a while back and have been wearing them endlessly. And I have a pair of red boots that I bought ages ago and still love to drag out for special outings.
So, my advice: embrace colorful shoes!
