This was my last weekend in Pittsburgh. Denis came up Friday and we had a really nice time. Saturday we had brunch in the strip district and walked around through the markets, then we went up a funicular to see a spectacular view of the city where the three rivers join. Then we toured the country rooms in the Cathedral of Learning (where I have class.) Then we saw War of the Worlds (pretty good, Batman was phenomenally better), went shopping in Shadyside (ipod stuff to use it in europe, shorts, fancy handcream for my sister-in-law), and met some of my classmates for drinks. Sunday after errands Denis dropped me off at my hair appointment and drove home : (
I just got this email from my mom:
"We saw a Pilrim Lodge counselor at church. he spent the week prior, on the island, and they found a time capsule you had burried, with a wig and pearls, which puzzled them. They enjoyed reading the letters you/friends had written, I guess in 1996. They reburied it for another group to discover, So what was with the pearls?"
I'm slightly horrified. I only vaguely remember writing a letter for the time capsule and it's probably highly sappy. I do remember not wanting to show anyone it when I wrote it and was comforted by the fact that it wouldn't be opened until long after I was there. I'm also intensely curious and wish I could read what I/my friends had written. I asked mom what the wig looked like, it was black and curly that and the pearls could be a reference to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but my memory's fuzzy.
