I'm feeling better today, although the weather isn't. It's gray and rainy and I hope that it clears up by 5 when I have to walk/bike to job #2 and definitely by 8 for my bike home. (I didn't bring a coat and only have a white t-shirt).
The meeting with my prof. yesterday about grad. school went well especially since he corrected several mistaken assumptions I had. First is that program is more important than specific person at this point because great programs have great people (both teachers and students) and that intellectual environment is critical. Secondly that my dissertation advisor doesn't need to have done work in my field, although it helps if their field is somewhat related. It's most important that they have an interest in learning about my field and working with my methodology. So bye bye Ohio. He actually suggested Harvard (which thrills Denis who would love to live in Cambridge/Boston), they didn't accept me before, hopefully I'm a more attractive candidate post-Williams. Stanford also came up because of a prof. whose just starting there. Who knows where we'll end up.
