I've been working on this for a while...
In case you missed it photos and video of the Leverage cast and Jensen Ackles celebrating Christian Kane's birthday at one of his shows. Oh happy. (Link from

aerye gave me 5 words last week. Let's see if we can make some progress on those. If you would like 5 words let me know.
Beauty, food, strength, art, humor: well, these are all awesome things I like :)
Beauty
Beauty's all good. I think lots of things are beautiful: people, nature, objects, buildings, etc. I spent a lot of time staring at things as a kid (like ceilings, architectural details, the woods while driving on 95--we took a lot of long car trips). I also like to people watch and often play "what's beautiful about this person" (a considerably more inclusive game then my other favorite "who here would I sleep with?").
In art history the standard has shifted from what's "beautiful" to what's "interesting". There are lots of things that are interesting rather than beautiful so that works (and I don't mean "ugly pretty" a la Tyra Banks). I still argue for aesthetic beauty when I teach certain things, most recently Mondrian.
Food
I really like food, the eating of it, not the cooking or prep. Well, occasionally I like to cook, but I hate doing it regularly as a chore. I *really* enjoy having food ready when I come home so I often make big batches of things (chili, curry, etc.) for leftovers or ask D. to deal with food (often this involves ordering out). I also have a huge sweet tooth. Right now I'm on a big cherry kick.
Let me give an update on crazy diet program. It lasted for 6 months. The first few months I followed it consistently and lost weight. Then I followed it half-assedly and maintained, then I junked it all together and gained some weight back. *Shocking* I know :) Now I'm not really following it, but I do keep in mind and sometimes follow some of the more useful precepts (eating every 3-4 hours, more protein, more veggies, fish oil, etc.)
Strength
Strength is awesome, I really want to be stronger. After years of doing some (slow) cardio and being intimidating by weights I'm now a huge fan of weights and really neglecting cardio. (Interestingly the last big weight gain I had was when I was training for that 10 mile race and stopped doing any weight training. However the medication I was on probably played a big role.) That's probably been the biggest change from crazy diet program. Even when I stopped really following it I was still going to the gym at least once a week. Now I'm at the gym about 3 times a week and that's working really well for me. (I just realized I've been exercising regularly since last Thanksgiving, that's definitely a record for me, go crazy diet plan.) Sucking it up and paying the trainer semi-regularly has helped with consistency too.
Trapeze has given me new-ish motivation to gain strength. Bellydance and curling clearly require strength, but trapeze is a whole new group of muscles. Plus now that I'm working on my swing I find I'm sorely in need of more power. (Not sure how I'm going to do that exactly, but I recognize the need. I'm also stalled on making gains with assisted pullups, anyone have any tips?)
Art
Yay art! I love art, my period is 20th c. (modernism), but I'm also a fan of 17th c. Dutch and Flemish (my minor), Baroque, Renaissance, Greek, Roman, etc. When I was going first deciding to go to graduate school I was torn between Baroque and Modern. My semester in Italy helped convince me to stay in the 20th c. (too many Madonnas!). That being said I'm a horrible artist. I had to take 2 undergrad studio classes for my major (I took drawing and sculpture) and it was not pretty. However, I'm always happy to visit art museums, and I love company if anyone wants to go!
Humor
Humor is good. I don't think I have a very good sense of humor, and my family and D. make fun of my lack of funny. I do have some funny friends like J. who does standup and the hilarious
bayleaf (eta: and of course the very funny
osirusbrisbane. I knew I was leaving someone out, apologies). D. and I have been talking about going to a comedy show since we've moved to DC, but we've never made it to one. Oh well, we have HBO.
