I'm giving exams right now. The students all look stressed (and some are ill). Sure the short answers are hard, but the IDs are really easy and the essay is fair.
I don't mean to crush their souls. Really.
update: okay we're in class #3. One girl looks like she's going to cry and one looks like she's going to kill me--she's even making eye contact. I had one student leave partway through the 2nd exam because he said he didn't know there was an exam today (he also sent me a draft of a paper for one of his other classes so I'm not taking it personally.) The rest of them look okay. I think. well mostly okay. I'll wait until after I grade them to be sure but maybe the third exam will be a smidgen easier.
