So far the term has started off with a lot of illness. Last week Denis was very sick (4 days out of work sick) with a bad flu (fever, congestion, headache, cough, feeling "crappy"). Yesterday I started coughing and while I'm not as sick as he is (only other symptoms are a horrible backache and headache) I still would rather not go to class and present on the Nabis today.

Luckily I have a lot less work this weekend than last. Instead of watching the superbowl (although yay Patiots I suppose) I was reading two 300+ page books for 17th c. Southern Drawing. My drawing's prof. started out the class with a lecture about how graduate students shouldn't be doing anything but reading and looking for obscure sources to find, so he doesn't put anything on reserve so we can spend our semester hunting for books. (We should be making friends with reference librarians to find more sources.) We're also divided up into groups (so if he write us recommendations he can say we're good at group work). This is actually a good thing because he doesn't skimp on foreign languages so someone else in my group can tackle the German while I muddle through some Italian and French. Plus we don't need to sleep and "can really push our bodies at this age" we don't need to follow the Surgeon General's recommendations for sleep. Yeah whatever.

I think he was just covering his own ass since he changed the course structure at the last minute and didn't get his shit together to put things on reserve (he did use reserves last year I was told). Plus he's going through a separation from his wife and is having a difficult term. That being said I think the class is going to rock, we had a great discussion Tuesday.
