My brain has decided it has just about enough energy for work, and then it's done. Even with that I can only write for about 1 1/2-2 hours before I start just turning out crap.

A general life update below, but first I have a question. I was thinking I should get a small gift for my Croatian tutor. She's helped me out (for free) all term and been super nice. Tomorrow is our last lesson as she's going back to Croatia next week (her time at the hotel is up.) I think she's 20 or 21. She's going home and then to some school in Austria to get a degree in hospitality (hence why she worked at an American hotel, it's good experience.) I have no idea what to get her, does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it.

Things are going okay. I have a paper due Friday that is pretty much done. I just need a brief conclusion and then all the picky stuff, footnotes, bibliography, figures, illustrations, illustration list (in which I need to have all the measurements in inches and centimeters, such a pain. I'm glad for google.)

I have a take home conservation exam due tomorrow, it's almost done I'll finish it up tonight. This was the analytical portion of the class where we had to look at graphs of different elements from x-ray spectroscopy (sp?) analysis and then try to figure out if the painting was "authentic." My piece-of-crap painting was obviously not a Carravaggio, but it's interesting to prove that scientifically. So we're dealing with elements and what pigments have which elements in their chemical formulas, and when those pigments started to be used, etc. It's as close to chemistry as I ever want to get again. You feel pretty dumb when three of you in the group are actually discussing which elements the letters stand for. (Luckily the fourth member of our group is an undergrad who's a chem major, yay).

Then 102 kids have their final this morning, hopefully I will get to do some work done during the actual final. (They have honor code and proctored exams???) Then I'll have about 25 exams to correct.

Finally I have my third and final dry run for my qualifying paper next Tuesday so that's this weekend's project. It's mostly editing and "strengthening my rhetoric" which I aparantly suck at since I thought I did that in my last draft and they basically said "um, no you didn't." *sigh* I'm also supposed to be more dramatic in my presentation. If I learned anything from high school drama club it's that I'm a behind the scenes kind of a girl. But challenges are good, make you grow, all the crap.
