Grrrr, my professor can be too leniant sometimes. Our trip to New York has been rescheduled until April because the undergrads have midterms next week. It's irritating to me that our class is half undergrads, especially when the class is too big (13 people), I don't mind a couple undergrads, but the prof. is treating this an awful lot like an undergrad. class and not a semiar and its frustrating. So because of the undergrads (and to be fair some second year grad. students who have to work on their qualifying papers, but they probably won't be able to come in April either) we're not going. What's especially irritating is that our prof. knows the guy who is currently the New York branch of Libeskind (he's looking for offices for the firm to rent) and he offered to meet with us at ground zero (should that be capitalized?) to discuss the site and then go somewhere private to show us the plans (private because there have been revisions and he's not supposed to show them to us). So we may be able to talk to him in April, but to risk the possibility of missing this opportunity because people have work to do (like there's ever a time when you don't have work) and because my prof. can't justify taking only four people on a field trip? Some of my classes only have four people. It's because she made this fieldtrip optional, she should have just made it mandatory. People need to take some time off from schoolwork, and you have 8 hours of travel time, at least 4 of which (on the train) are prime study-hours. Grrr.
On a happy note, Denis and I will still be visiting the city this weekend, just going down on Saturday. It will probably end up being better because I can spend all of Friday studying. *sigh*
