I spent the weekend in Utica at the Keyser.

We lost our first three games although played successively better in each. Won our 3rd game by changing the team dynamic from hierarchical to discussion group + crazy silly. penis Got 2nd in the shootout (drew to the 4 foot woo!), and proceeded to play another Potomac team. We we're doing quite well (on crazy sheet 6 ice) until heartbreak at end of 7th end and ended up losing. (Note: Mcgillicuddy's mentholmint is quite good and much better in the flask we take out on the ice than burbon). Had a great time and much much love for my team.

We had the best draw times of the spiel. We got to the club on Thursday and I tried Guitar Hero for the first time (fun!). Played Thursday night at 7pm went to bed early-ish. Friday didn't play until early afternoon I think? Chilled at the hotel in the afternoon. I watched the fantastic new Torchwood episode. Our second game was at 8pm. Got properly drunk and closed down the club with our team Friday despite the lame band. Continued at the hotel in the guys' room although probably too loudly. Saturday started with a huge, delicious brunch at ihop. Our first game (the one we won) was at 1:30, then we played again at 8pm.

Saturday night was the most fun as we were out and there was a dj and karoke. All the Potomac people got out there for Love Shack. [personal profile] insptr_penguin  and I helped [personal profile] ellen_fremedon  get drunk and sing Werewolves of London. Karoke ended with Fight For Your Right to Party and we headed back to the hotel and a room party hosted by Schnectady. At this point I should have stopped drinking and refused the sweet orange stuff (did so well the night before), but I didn't. We went back to our rooms and around 2 I was at the unpleasant drunk stage. It wasn't too bad, but I was done and went to bed at 3. ([personal profile] ellen_fremedon  had a much worse time of it and I think needed tending to until 6 or something?

Sunday we hit up ihop on the way out of town and had a very quiet car ride filled mostly by intermittent napping. J was awesome and drove the entire way back.

Overall a great bonspiel. Good people + curling + music + booze = fun.

More like 4. Which was bad enough.

(Also, the sore neck seems to have been the precursor to a sore throat. I am at home, and sounding like I swallowed a cheese grater. Alas.)

I did not get the version of the story where YOU sang karaoke.

Wow. That was a lot of alcohol.

She asked us if she wanted to get drunk and sing karoke would we take pictures enable her and so we did.

Hon, it was more like 5:30-6. We're SOOO glad you're OK. There does seem to have been a bonspiel crud going around because people are ending up sick left and right.

Oh dear. I am sorry to have put you through that.

And, yeah, I think the neck pain was the first symptom of the crud. I think I should be mostly okay tomorrow, though, as long as I stay warm and keep pushing fluids. Who else has come down with crud?

That seventh end damn near killed me. I've been on your side of it too, of course, where it looks like you've got a good steal going and then some shit happens and the bad guys get the points -- but oddly enough, I haven't so often been on this side, where nothing is remotely going even a little bit your way and then the rest of your team calls you into holding the broom for a frankly preposterous shot* of which you get only half but it's the important half and then the scary scary shit works out on the last shot and you thought you were giving up a[nother] steal and instead you get three points you badly, badly need.

*No kidding. JS wanted that shot, and would have accepted a couple of others, and I didn't like any of them, but I liked that one the least; and then JV came back and said he liked that one too, for a series of reasons that made me realize that of the ones I disliked less, none of them was really going to help, and the only chance we had was if this shot that I HATED went our way, so I just wanted JS to get in the hack and throw it already so it would just be over. (There was one shot I refused to call, but I think that was in the third end. I can be very, very unhappy about the shot the skip wants; it takes an awful lot more than very, very unhappy for me to bust out "I will not hold the broom for that". Heh.)

I'm just sayin. [patpats]

No need to at all to apologize. Seriously. This is what friends do. Also I'm paying forward what has been done for me.

So far, it seems to have been you, SC, and me, but I am sure there will be others...
Feel better!
