Ethan and I are extremely - perhaps too - comfortable farting in front of each other. Sometimes we'll give a sheepish 'excuse me', except that we both know that the other doesn't really care all that much (unless it's really smelly, in which case the one who smelt it will just lord it over the one who dealt it for a little while). Generally we just are easy going/have a sense of (immature) humor about it.

I think we're somewhere between options 2 and 3, depending on the type of fart. If it's silent and not smelly then who cares? But if it's rather loud and/or smelly to the extent that it might bother the other person we'll say "excuse me" or give some kind of warning. But not always.
