Looking for a new fix? Heroes is some damn fine crack. Is anyone else watching it? It has *excellent* plot, imagery, acting, mystery, and they give answers in a timely manner (unlike some shows, *cough*lost*cough*). Plus Clea DuVall and Christopher Eccleston bonuses!

It appears that many of the episodes are available on the official nbc website for free. Also on itunes FYI.

I've downloaded it, but I haven't had time to marathon it yet.

Oooh, my boss got me an Itunes card for Christmas. Now I have something to spend it on!

Completely agreed. We downloaded the first 4 episodes and watched them on the plane to New Zealand and they were great. The characters haven't been developed much yet, but the plot really moved and the production values were super. As promising as it seemed, though, I think we may end up waiting for the DVD, just because we have so many other shows to watch thanks to friends like you being so generous and gifty! =)

(Also agreed that Lost is annoyingly slow with its reveals. We just finished watching season 2 on DVD and although we're fairly invested at this point, there are times when we just get tired of the snail's pace. And the characters don't resonate with us enough to carry the show without at least *some* plot progression.)

It's so true. With Buffy, you could have en episode where jack all happened and I would still squee because the characters are so awesome. Firefly was insanely good because it had awesome characters plus nonstop plot. I'm just not invested in the Lost characters, though. So when they start up the seasons with their patented oh-my-god-you-just-watched-4-hours-of-TV-and-the-plot-could-have-been-summed-up-in-2-minutes method, it bugs the heck out of me. They typically pick up to a good pace later in the seasons, though, it seems.

And I agree: Heroes looks promising, need to get the DVD when it comes out.

Whedon is a master at characterization, pure and simple. Even in the early Buffy days when I tended to hate the storylines I enjoyed watching the characters just be themselves. And that is not something that can be said of many other fandoms.
