Pictures from Thanksgiving here.
Christmas was fun. D. and I flew to Maine Friday night. We got a lot of nice gifts. My favorite was a book about the work of Christo and Jean Claude. My mom remembered I went and saw ther Gates in NYC last year so she and my sister went to a talk and had the book autographed!!! Most of our gifts were themed. We had asked for a ricecooker, so my mom took that as a cue and we got a lot of sushi themed gifts: pretty little dishes, chopsticks, ingredients, rolling mats, a cookbook, and of course the ricecooker. We'll have to have a sushi-making party!
Monday, on the way to the airport, we met up with
lifeinlondon for lunch and coffee. It was good to catch up. Tuesday I spent the evening with a couple friends from highschool. Wednesday I headed down to the Upper Valley to have second Christmas with my extended family. Despite having to share a sleeper sofa in the basement with my sister and the dog it was a nice to see everyone. Friday we drove back to Maine and Saturday I flew home. Before going to the airport we stopped at the Portland Museum of Art to see the Christo exhibition. Unfortunately the plane was a little delayed and then we waited for 2 hours for luggage. There was some problem with the baggage handlers so the bags never made it to the main terminal. I left tired and frustrated so D. and I stayed in for New Year's. We watched Buffy (we're in the middle of season 2) and then I fought back sleep at 10:30 and watched him play Samuri Warriors until 11:45 when we switched over to Dick Clark. The bags arrived at 1am reeking of ciagrette smoke, but I was glad to have them. I'm only in town a few days then heading to Arizona Friday.
