Oh neat. Check out this. My grandparents lived in Defiance, Ohio for years and years. My dad grew up there during the fifties (only 5 kids in that household though.)
Update from mom:
It is by the lady who lived down the street from Grandma and Grandpa. We had seen the book, actually and DAD knew the family.
Update from dad:
Amelia,
Yes the Ryans just lived across the street and almost to the railroad tracks. One of the girls, Barbara, was in my classes all the way from kindergarten through high school. So its a true story, and I read the book a few years ago and the book seemed accurate. Wonder how the movie will be. I can remember my parents saying that Mrs Ryan was pretty smart and that she won a lot of contests by devising clever advertising jingles. According to grandpa, Mr. Ryan was a drunk which brought on a lot of problems for the family. They didn't have a lot of money, but as a kid I didn't really notice that. Hey maybe in 40 years someone you now know may have a movie about them.
love,
dad
