I haven't posted in a while so here's a quick update before class:
1. I cut my hair short a couple weeks ago. It's somewhat similar to Erin's, layered around my jawline. I really like it and Denis does too (despite his initial dislike of the idea of short hair.)
2. It was great to see all of my classmates again and meet the first years. Most of them are pretty cool as well. We've been having some social events which have been lots of fun. It's great that Denis can come this year and he is getting a lot better at mingling with the art crowd (plus he knows a few people now). He also got a drunk a few times, fun for him, slightly irritating for me.
3. I sprained my ankle about a week and a half ago in the most retarded way possible. My leg fell asleep during class (the lecture was sooo good) that I stood up without paying attention and collapsed on my right ankle. It was all swollen and I was on crutches for Convocation (the seniors and grad. students march in like at graduation) and then got badly sunburnt and two days later stubbed my toe and it was bleeding everywhere. Hopefully these things come in threes. I'm now walking again, but my ankle bothers me occasionally so I haven't been running (which I had started pre-ankle) I did have a good evening with the elliptical thingy last week, maybe I'll make it to the gym again this week.
4. All my classes are good, as is being a TA for Arth 101, although I don't really do much as a TA which is both good and bad. Classes are: Romanesque Sculpted Portals (undergrad seminar), Poses in Baroque Art (undergrad seminar), and German Art 1960-present (undergrad. lecture with grad. seminar component). We can take up to 4 undergrad classes while we're here, of course we have to do a graduate level paper for them, but it gives us a wider range of things to choose from. I needed some stuff that wasn't 19th/20th century.
5. I have a lot of work and am stressed out and feel hugely behind. I'm late in doing my Fullbright language evaluation (haven't emailed the woman back) and that's stressing me out the most right now, although I did get the forms out to my recommenders and am meeting with the advisor Wednesday to go over my essays. The application is due to Williams Oct. 3rd.
6. I'm going to NY tomorrow to meet with a prof. at Columbia. She's going out on leave and only had two days available to I have to miss class (which I hate since class is only once a week.) Denis is coming too to pick up his renewed passport at the Croatian consulate. I also have to find the time and money some time this term to visit NYU, UPenn (drivable at least), and U Chicago (I might have to fly, don't know when that's going to happen.) Not to mention the actual graduate school applications.
7. I offered to quit my job at Agora, but they said since I'm trained I can have a completely flexible schedule, meaning I can come in however much I want, pretty much whenever I want, although if it's before 5pm I need to give them a couple days notice so there's a computer free, but 5-8pm and weekends are totally open. This is great because I can make some money when I have free time, but no pressure to come in when I'm busy.
8. I have to go to the 101 lecture. Hope you all are well.
