In general I loved it! (Last few minutes notwithstanding.)
The car! The impala gets it due. (In my one vid ever, there were 3 verses, one was Dean loving Sam, one was Sam loving Dean, and the final one was about love for the Impala). I really like the car/flashback parts.
Dean treating Sam like an adult! Character growth :hearts:
Oh saying goodbye to Bobby :( I thought Cas was pitch perfect in that scene.
Why can't Dean literally push devil!Sam into the hole? Would that be so damn hard? At the end Michael falls into the hole, clearly Newtonian physics works in some way here. Just sayin'
I like the mirror thing. Also, remember Jared Padalecki's acting in season 1? Awww. And still like that the devil still speaks the truth.
Calling Chuck for the location of the fight made good narrative sense. I like when Chuck is used for story as opposed to ridiculousness.
Good costumes choices for the brothers. Even though we all get it already I like the angel-brother dialogue, it's a nice foil to all the growing Sam and Dean have done.
Yay for the Dean's entrance with the Impala and the music. This episode is really nicely paced (unlike last week's).
Wow they killed Cas and Bobby off really casually. The brother reason only sort of makes sense to me.
Oh the fighting at the car. I love you even though you're beating the crap out of me. OMG so much LOVE!!! Also love of family and Impala!home giving Sam the strength works for me. By far not the craziest place they could have drawn from. Very nice with the devil talking about how alienated Sam felt from his family earlier. I heart the flashbacks and the love.
Oh they had to kill everyone off so Dean could be so damn utterly alone. Emotionally brutal, but it works for me. This is so much worse than hell for Dean he doesn't do well when he's not the martyr or can't do any saving.
Wow they brought Cas and Bobby back really casually. I'm slightly annoyed by this. But I'm really glad Bobby is back. I could go either way on Cas, but I'm happy he fixed ugly, beat up Dean.
Really, the writer is saying it's hard to write. STFU this should have been edited out from the draft. The ego is making me ill.
Cas back to heaven, eh, okay. Freedom v. peace, yeah we get it, didn't need the exegis. Now the show could have ended right there. Dean in the Impala driving down the road alone. Fade to black, fade to black.
Annnd now we know we have season 6 coming up. Eh. I don't mind Dean and Bobby separating for a long time, that makes sense. Okay. I'm not minding the voiceover.
Dean going to Lisa doesn't really bother me. I'm a little annoyed that Lisa is just this token woman standing in for family and domesticity without any real personality, just as prop for Dean, his "roadnot taken". But him taking that road. Okay. I think he's going to be a shitty partner and father. Brooding, drinking too much, beating himself up for letting Sam go. Bet that will last a couple months max. Why would Sam think Dean even has the emotional and practical capacity at this point for a boring, normal life? I really don't buy Dean giving up the fight because of his promise to Sam.
I hate Chuck as god. Doesn't make sense and is annoying. Lalalala let's pretend that didn't happen.
Am intrigued by Sam/spirit!Sam outside the house. Sam outside looking in has been a recurring theme. Curious to see how it goes next season.
But they could have stopped with Dean driving the Impala alone. I would have been okay with that. Overall I really liked the tone and the pacing and all of the emotional stuff. Much more satisfying than I expected.
