Very brief Women's Challenge recap:

Drove up Thursday afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] darthfox and EM. We we're joined at the club by third teammate KS. We lost our Thurs. night and Friday games (only one game on Friday :( ), putting us in the third event.

darthfox and I were staying at the hotel, EM and KS with E. The club overall didn't do a great job (sample: we showed up at 9am for breakfast before our 10am Sat. game and no one was there), but the people were nice.

Saturday we won both our games (10am and 3pm)! Now 2-2 we had a nice time at the "Flower Power"-themed party. The meat we had for dinner was tasty and the band not too loud.

Sunday we played in the third event semis at 9:30am, shaking after the 6th. The finals were at 1pm and we won! This is my second time getting piped onto the ice and winning a pin (the first was when cmshaw's team took home 2nd in the second event at the Women's Challenge in Belfast a couple years ago).

darthfox and EM drove home (I napped, a nice change from the napping and grading on the way up). All in all good weekend with a great team!

I am ridiculously tired this morning. Six games over 4 days doesn't seen excessive, but maybe it was the almost back-to-back ones on Sunday (and I was lead throwing third rocks, so lots of sweeping) that were tiring.

After forgetting my exams (majors thanks to Denis from driving them down to me) I don't think I was making too much sense in lecture. The topic is surrealism, but still. The students were yawning (I think they must have gotten back from their spring breaks last night too) so I just gave up and we did a writing exercise. It led to a surprisingly good discussion so there's that. Wednesday I now have lots more material to cover, and writing exercises to read before that, but maybe we'll all be more awake.
