Sometimes my dad does the nicest things. We just got a letter from him. He was cleaning out his dresser and found a letter sent to him from his grandmother in March 1975. At that time my parents' situation was very similar to ours. After marrying in August 1974, and moving to Colorado just before New Year's 1975, they had only been in Boulder a few months, my dad was in graduate school (working on his master's degree) and my mom was working. They were both 25 and without children (ie me) yet. My dad thought of us and made us a copy of the letter. As he writes in his letter some sentiments are still apt ("you know all work and no play might make your marriage dull so reserve some time to be together for some recreation") and others are different ("your dad stopped [by] yesterday...and had a pickled beef tongue sandwich did you like it I know Bill did.") As my dad writes "her remarks about her appreciation of (your aunt) Beth's kindness rings true as it is those little things that often produce big remembrances." Although my dad's letter is typed, not handwritten like my grandmother's it was very nice of him to send it to me and Denis. I'm looking a little more forward to seeing my parents at Thanksgiving now.
