I found out this weekend that my Grandmother (the one in Ohio) went to the hospital and was diagnosed with what my mother called coronary heart failure/disease. So now she's in a wheelchair so she doesn't overexert her heart. (Previously they were encouraging her to walk because she also has fibro mylasia (sp?); it's like arthritis in your muscles, so it hurts to move, but once you loose mobility it's hard to gain it back.)

My parents are driving up to Ohio this weekend (Thurs. though Mon.) and rearranged their schedule so that I could tag along. I was hoping not to go this time because it's the trip where all my aunts and uncles are meeting to begin cleaning out my grandparent's house (i.e. divying up stuff) and that's going to be emotional and I'll just be in the way. What I've heard about my grandparents' general philosophy on their stuff is that there's some things they care about, but in general it's been "you kids can fight over it, don't bother us." I don't know if that's accurate now. Anyway, I just really want to see my grandparents, and they're bringing them back to Defiance (from the rest home) for a day or two, so it will be nice to see them in familar surroundings.

So much for a romantic Valentine's Day for my first year of marriage. Oh well, Valentine's Day is kind of overrated anyway. Our 5 year-anniversary of our first date is in March and we usually just combine that with Valentine's Day. Denis says he'll cook me dinner when I get back. Maybe we'll use the good china (it's still in it's original boxes).

Mr. Frazer had large heart attack and is in the hospital until Wednesday and then has to leave, but neither he nor his wife want him to come home (she's still at home) so my aunt and uncle don't know what they're going to do with him, so this is major stress for my mother's side of the family. [Mr. Frazer is not really related to me. He's the father of Uncle Ted who lives in Etna, Ted is my mother's brother-in-law. Mr. Frazer was the Quaker minister who married my parents and I know him and his wife from large family gatherings like my cousin's weddings.]

It sucks to be old.

In other news, I am an alumni interviewer for Dartmouth. I'm matched up with '58 and we have 4 high school students to interview (I might not get to all four because of my new travel plans). It should be interesting, the first one is on Wednesday. I haven't even met Sam (the '58) yet.

Also, I learned a valuable exercise lesson today. Don't exercise first thing in the morning without eating anything. I was fine during the workout, but almost passed out in the shower. The day should start looking up soon.
