Had a lovely extended weekend with my sister and mom. We went outlet shopping for work clothes (felt just like school shopping when we were younger except I buy my own clothes now, well most of them), bought lots of presents for my sister's dog and my cousin's baby, went out for mexican and japanese bbq, and went to the aquarium. My mom spent her free time sewing a quilt for my sister and doing her mending, and I cooked ginger scones for everyone Sunday night. My sister's dog is still cute although so attached to my sister she won't go for a walk with or eat treats from anyone else. The only negative part of the weekend was my sister's boyfriend's bird. The bird has lived longer than normal birds and squaks loudly from sunrise to sunset, even on weekends. Other than the background bird noise it was a really nice time. I hope we can do it again some time.
When I got home Denis greeted me with flowers :)
Unfortunately Tues. morning I headed outside to drive to an appointment and our car was dead. I took an (expensive) cab to and from the appointment, but then began the saga of trying to fix the car. Phelton, our maintenance man, filled the battery with water (I never knew batteries needed water frankly) and jumped us, but after running for a bit it wouldn't restart so we knew we needed a new battery. He jumped us again and we drove towards the autoparts store (there are none on our side of town). The car stalled around 13th St. in the middle of rush hour traffic, so Denis jumped out, I got in the driver's seat, put the car in neutral and Denis *pushed the car uphill in to a parking space*. I was very impressed. Then we called geico and waited for the towtruck and the slowest repairman ever. Bought a battery (left the car running in the parking lot) and went home where Denis spent a hot, dirty hour replacing it. Blech, I hate car maintenance.
