Denis was watching CNN Headline News and heard that Dartmouth is cancelling the varsity swim team. In an effort to save the program the swim team posted an auction on Ebay for someone (like a corporate sponsor) to buy the team. Last I checked the bidding was at aproximately $212,000.

Dartmouth budget cuts really really suck.

Has anyone actually bid yet? I saw it a few days ago and the minumum bid listed by the seller was something like $211,000 or $212,000 (you wouldn't want the auction of your swim team to start at $0.00), but no one had actually made an initial bid.

Sorry I can't check for myself right now. I'm at work and they ban certain websites, including eBay.

This morning when I checked they had several bids and had met the reserve price, now they only have 3 bids and have not met the reserve price. Two bids were cancelled one because of "entered wrong amount" and the other because they "cannot contact seller". Work blocks Ebay? Good thing they haven't found out about the procrastination value of Livejournal.

That's crazy about the ebay thing. Though actually the item appears to have been pulled now (I did see it earlier today when I first read your post, but I tried clicking the link now and it said that the item number was invalid, and a search for the Dartmouth swim team on ebay came up with nothing... curious.

Oh, for anyone who didn't read it here's the story that ran before Thanksgiving in the D about the swim team being a victim of budget cuts: College cuts swim, diving teams (http://www.thedartmouth.com/article.php?aid=200211260101)

Hee hee. Your rushed monster's being attacked by tiny versions of itself.

No, he's shaking his little fists up and down in aggravation. And he's not a monster, he's a little purple bubble man.

I don't think those are fists. They're not even attached to his body. They must be tiny clones of himself that have gone rogue.

Are you suggesting that a tiny purple bubble man isn't some kind of monster?
