The show was great! Very entertaining, we especially enjoyed the choreography and the actress that played Anita. It was neat that a lot of the Shark's conversation and two of the songs, including "I Am Pretty", were in Spanish. We don't understand Spanish, but you could easily figure out what was going on (and they had the lyrics translated in the program, not that you really needed it for either one). After we got there we realized that Riff was played by the guy we saw on tv last summer on Step It Up and Dance. On the show he was portrayed as kind of a jerk, but ended up winning (I wanted the girl to win). Anyway, he was good as Riff, and the dancing was great. Highly recommended, I think the show runs until Jan. 15th.
A few weeks ago I told my mother that I needed a little case to keep my zils (finger cymbals). I thought I was adding it to my Christmas list and was hoping that she would knit me something pretty, but our wires got crossed and she thought I meant "I need this, do you have anything around?". So she sent me a bunch of random little zippered bags she's collected over the years (many scream "free gift with cosmetics purchase"), mostly in ugly paisley prints, but all perfectly useful. I found one for my zils. Problem solved.

This weekend she said she found another one for me, in case I didn't like the other 8 she had sent in the mail. This one was fine too, but when I unzipped it I found a pair of handcuffs.

A: "What are these?"
Mom: "Oh, I thought you might need them for something"
A: ??? "Why do you have them?"
Mom: "From an old costume or something I just found them."
A: "okay. I guess. Do they come with a key?"
Mom: "They don't need a key" [they're costume, so there's a latch on the side]
A: "great, uh, thanks"

So I guess my mother thinks I have a need for handcuffs. Interesting.
