Pretty Leaves
The foliage here is amazing! All the Berkshire advertising was not kidding, it's definitely the most dramatic I've ever seen and that's including Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. I can't believe the intensity of the oranges, yellows and reads. Plus it's been warm the last week, the perfect fall, too bad I have to study.
Saturday we drove out to a first year's farm in rural VT for a BBQ. It's about a half hour away, up on a hill, and the drive was incredibly beautiful. It was a nice chill party, we met some of his VT friends, it was nice to meet some people who don't go to Williams. Hopefully next time we go out he'll show us the observatory (his mom was an astronomer).
Sunday we drove to Northampton to see Bente. That drive was also beautiful, but I had to read for most of it, so much schoolwork. It was a nice day, we went out for sushi (to find out if Denis and I like it--we do, especially Denis), took a walk, and the went to a pumpkin farm. It was good just to visit and chat for a while.
Today (and tomorrow) are library days, so exciting, the schoolwork never ends. I'm not feeling particularly motivated to sit down and focus right now, blech. Denis has Columbus day as an optional holiday, but his boss asked him to please come in and work because stuff happened over the weekend. I guess he'll be able to take a day off some other time. So I can't use him as a distraction. *sigh*

You weren't kidding - weather.com says that some record highs were set for North Adams for this time of year. nifty. I like 'Indian Summers'. This last weekend was really warm here too (84 degrees). But no pretty leaves. :-(
Also, Columbus Day has to be the least-celebrated holiday that's an official U.S. Govt. Holiday. That's cool that Denis's employers at least offered him the day off - I don't know anyone else who doesn't work for the government who got the day off. I figure if they're not going to deliver the snail mail that day, I shouldn't have to work that day. Curse you e-mail, instigator of the eternal workweek! ;-)
