El Lissitzky/What I do at work

Although this website is from a Getty exhibition in 1998-99 it's on El Lissitzky, the focus of the exhibition that I worked on with my boss this summer. It's also a beautiful website. For those of you who went to the Guggenheim in June, you can see why I wanted to see the Malevich show.

That was cool. I liked the one where there's all these diagonal angular markings, and coming out of some of them is the smiling face of a woman.

Very nifty!

After perusing the site, I have a feeling that one of my favorite current artists, Dave Mckean (who doesn't have an official site but for whom this is an unofficial site here (http://www.dreamline.nu/)), who did all the Sandman covers, probably draws from some of his work, especially the photomontages. I was quite taken with his self-portrait (http://www.getty.edu/research/tools/digital/lissitzky/7_marketing/liss050_b.html), and with this ad for drawing ink (http://www.getty.edu/research/tools/digital/lissitzky/7_marketing/liss052_b.html).
